Severe Weather Information

Somerset ISD prioritizes the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff when considering weather closures. The district evaluates several factors before cancelling, delaying, or dismissing student’s classes early due to inclement weather. School days missed must be made up on the bad weather make up days designated on the school calendar.

School Closures
District administrative staff monitors severe weather conditions throughout the day and overnight. If severe weather develops, the Superintendent will consult with representatives from the National Weather Service, TxDOT, and local law enforcement to evaluate travel conditions. Normally a decision to cancel is determined prior to 5:30 a.m.

Somerset ISD’s Communication’s team will notify parents through a variety of methods:

  • Text Message/ Phone Call/Email
    Ensure your child’s emergency contact information is up-to date. The phone number and email on your child’s file will be contacted in all emergencies.

    Follow Somerset ISD’s social media channels Facebook and Twitter for emergency announcements.

  • News Media
    Somerset ISD notifies all San Antonio news TV stations and newspapers with closures.
