Somerset ISD wants you to join our incredible team!  Located just 20 minutes from downtown San Antonio, Texas, Somerset ISD is a school district dedicated to ensuring that every child receives the best education possible.  This goal cannot be accomplished without ensuring that all employees are valued and supported creating a strong culture and employee experience. 

Criteria for referring a Certified Educator:

Refer a certified educator and earn EXTRA MONEY for every successful hire!  Somerset ISD employees may refer teachers who are certified in any content area.  We are looking for certified teachers who are innovative, passionate, hard-working, and committed to successful student outcomes. There is no limit to the number of referrals you can make, although payout is limited to four referrals in any school year.  All teacher certification areas are eligible. We will start accepting referrals beginning February 1, 2024.

Eligible employee referrals for certified educators must meet the following criteria:

  • Candidates referred must meet hiring requirements by the employment date (when referred for approval).

  • Referred teacher must have valid work authorization.

  • Referred teacher must not be under contract for the employment referral year.

  • Referred teacher must be teacher certified in the area he/she is being hired in.

  • A referred certified teacher must be recommended for hire by a campus administrator.

  • If more than one person refers the same teacher, the referral bonus will be awarded to the first official referral received, as noted by the date/time the referral form was submitted. 

  • You cannot refer a current teacher in Somerset ISD, but you may refer former employees being rehired after a separation.

All other employee referrals must meet the following criteria:

  • Referred candidate for a position as a Bus Driver must hold a valid CDL at the time the application is completed and at time of hire.

  • If more than one person refers the same candidate, the referral bonus will be awarded to the first official referral received, as noted by the date/time the referral form was submitted.

Who is eligible to receive the employee referral incentive?
All current Somerset ISD employees are eligible for the Employee Teacher Referral Incentive except for the following positions: assistant principals, district-level administrator, part-time employees, and substitutes.

What is the referral process?

  • An Online Referral Form must be completed prior to the candidate submitting an application. 

  • If the employee making the referral does not complete the Employee Referral Form before the referred candidate is recommended, the referral is ineligible for the incentive.

  • You will be notified by the Human Resources Department if your referral meets the requirements.

    The Human Resources staff will track all referrals

When is a referral paid?
Employees referring candidates will receive payment after the newly hired employee to Somerset ISD has been employed for a minimum of 90 days. Human Resources staff will follow-up with eligible referrals.

How many referrals may be submitted?

Employees may submit any number of referrals, however are eligible to only receive a total of four referral payments during any fiscal year period (September – August). 

Are all positions eligible?
The bonus only applies to full-time positions for teachers and bus drivers, as high demand positions.

Somerset ISD makes no guarantees that a referred candidate will be hired by the district.
