Dear Somerset ISD Families,
It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of one of our beloved teachers, Ms. Melissa Ramsey. Ms. Ramsey was a valued member of our Somerset High School faculty and touched the lives of many students, staff, and families with her dedication and kindness.
During this difficult time, Somerset High School is providing grief counseling and support services to both students and staff. We encourage anyone who may need assistance to reach out.
Somerset High School students were notified of Ms. Ramsey’s passing this morning. THRIVE Center staff, high school counseling staff, and counselors from other campuses have provided support for students and staff throughout the day. Counselors visited each of her classes and facilitated discussions with students about her passing.
Although classroom instruction will continue as usual, we anticipate the next few days will be tough for everyone. We will continue to have grief counseling services on standby ready to assist anyone who needs it. Please monitor your child and allow them to express feelings in a supportive and caring climate. Counseling staff may be reached at 210-750-8958 and are available to talk to you about your child.
Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to Ms. Ramsey’s family, friends, and all those who were impacted by her life and work.
